Our story began with Andrew's business, Water's Edge Woods. To describe it then, it was a sawmill that turned logs into timber, a lumberyard for local woodworkers, and a wood shop that made furniture, flooring...and lots of other stuff using cool wood...but, not even his wife could describe it.
Needless to say, there was a lot going on and a lot of confusion on how to describe it all.
To help bring clarity to his marketing and learn how he could reach new customers, Andrew attended a StoryBrand workshop in Nashville. It was amazing! BUT, returning home he couldn’t find the time to execute on all the great strategies he learned. Finally, (and luckily), Colleen decided to take a chance on small hipneck (hippie + redneck) lumberyard after working in marketing and social media with large international brands. The duo soon found that Andrew’s copywriting and business background were a great match for Colleen’s attention to detail and eye for building beautiful websites. Within a couple months, Water’s Edge Woods marketing was clear, a new website had been built, a showroom was opened, and sales had increased. Our friends took notice and started asking for help with their businesses. We had so much fun building our own website, we happily agreed. Before we knew it, we had another business on our hands.
After leaving a career in healthcare to follow the entrepreneurial dream, Andrew has received a real world MBA running Water’s Edge Woods the last five years. He is keenly aware of the struggles a small business owner faces: not enough time, not enough money, and not knowing what to do next. He views building businesses as a creative act and loves helping other owners build their companies.
After studying Fashion Merchandising at the University of Georgia, Colleen put her degree into practice with children's clothing at Carter's corporate office. Wanting to work on several brands, she later joined a PR agency where she helped with social media strategy and event planning for brands like Airstream, Thor Industries and several non-profits. Her passion is to help more entrepreneurs come alive by doing what they love.
We are happily located in Athens, GA!
